Original antique photograph collection of 58 vintage snapshots and real photo postcards of early American automobiles, spanning roughly 1912 through the early 1930s.Every image is an original period print, not a reproduction or copy.The collection captures American car ownership across two decades: brass-era touring cars on dirt roads, Model T Fords, closed sedans of the late twenties, roadsters with rumble seats, and family groups posed proudly beside the new car.Several photographs carry period captions in white ink or pencil identifying the make or year, including two black album leaves labeled "Mrs. Hamilton and the Westcott" and "D.W. Halstead and the Westcott" — the Westcott Motor Car Company of Richmond, Indiana and Springfield, Ohio built roughly 15,000 hand-assembled luxury cars between 1909 and 1925 before failing, making surviving owner photographs genuinely scarce.Other captions include "BUICK-1923," "Peerless," "Cadilack," "The family bus. Not a Rolls-Royce 1913," a studio date stamp reading AUG 26 1917, and dates of 1924 and 1927.Beyond the cars themselves, the collection documents the culture that grew up around them. One photograph shows two women outside a roadside store beneath a legible porcelain Kendall Motor Oil and Gasoline sign and a hand-lettered GROCERIES DRINKS board, early filling station and petroliana content.Two further images document auto camping in the 1920s, with tents pitched beside the car, camp tables set, and legible license plates. Several photos show visible state plates, running-board picnics, women at the wheel, and cars parked before bungalows, barns, brick rowhouses, and a railroad caboose.Sizes vary from roughly 2x3 inches to standard 3.5x5.5 postcard format.Several are mounted on black album paper with the original white ink captions intact.
