The item for sale is truly a "Holy Grail" of Indiana Jones collecting and for the discerning collector only.
As you can tell by my account name created in 1999, I am a seriousIndiana Jones fan and collector going back to when I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in my youth.
In 2007, I received this wax wrapper proof directly from the Topps Vault after winning the sale for the item. For those not familiar with the Topps Vault, the company created this division to clear out their archives by saleing rare one-of-a-kind artists proofs and other trading card related items stored by the company in their many years of business.
Those familiar with the Topps Indiana Jones trading card line are aware that the wax wrapper proof image shown in my listing is not the final design used in the Topps Raiders of the Lost Ark trading card set. This fact makes the item exceptionally unique and desirable, especially since it originated directly from Topps.
The wrapper proof image is actually on sturdy, thick paper-type stock and is blank on the opposite side. The Post-it note shown on the protective sleeve was included by Topps, and I did not want to remove it even for the listing photo so as to keep everything in pristine condition.
The certificate of authenticity shown was typical of what Topps was providing at the time, but unfortunately leaves much to be desired compared to more recent authentication methods used in the industry.
The item has never been on display and has only removed from storage and photographed for this listing, and also when I briefly offered it for sale during the release of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
A printout of the sales receipt, FedEx tracking information as well as the original listing is included for provenance and historical reference for the buyer. Please see the two photos of the paperwork announcing me as winner, as well as the original Topps Vault listing with the original description of the item.
This item will be packaged safely and securely in a larger box and shipped via FedEx with signature confirmation. Due to the nature of this item, I cannot accept returns due to the ease of someone making a copy of this item.
Please note that the Indiana Jones hat, jacket and whip shown in the photo background are NOT included but shown only for aesthetic purposes.
