These antique tintype photographs depict a young woman and a boy who very well may be legendary Old West outlaw Billy the Kid and his mother, Catherine McCarty. While I cannot guarantee the identifications, there is some provenance. When I purchased them several years ago, they came with two other tintypes and were listed as generic families from Texas and New Mexico. Billy and his mom lived in New Mexico (the other two were the Texas family). Besides the uncanny resemblances to the comparison photos, the boy is wearing a pinky ring, as Billy does in his known photo. It is also important to note that both come up as a match to their known photos under the Betaface facial-recognition program at a strong 75% and 78%. The items are sold as-is, and may have scratches, bends, peeling, soiling, discoloration, trimming, or other damage, so please take a close look at the pictures.
