RARE #72/150 STATE OF ARIZONA CENTENNIAL - PENDLETON BLANKET - SIGNED NUMBERED:

This is for a very rare Pendleton blanket commissioned directly by the State of Arizona to commemorate the state's 150th Anniversary. Pendleton made only 150 of these blankets, designed by theArizona Centennial Commission,which are now a permanent part of the state's history. This is the only one I've ever seen. It is in great condition with two nicks on the edge of the red welting. Aside from the rarely seen historic value this is also a beautiful Pendleton blanket with a huge lone star on a field of blue.
The Arizona Centennial Commission commissioned Pendleton Mills to produce these at the their headquarters inPendleton, Oregon. Each one was then signed and numbered by the presiding Governor.
The 5 points of the Arizona star represent the five “C’s” of the state's economy: copper, cotton, cattle, citrus and climate. The borders of the blanket are inspired by designs from Arizona’s Native American and Hispanic cultures.
The 15 diamond shaped elements represent the state’s 15 counties: Apache, Cochise, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, Yavapai and Yuma.The red and yellow pointed borders represent the rays of the sun.
The "front" side of the blanket has a copper colored star on a deep blue background. The photos make the star appear much brighter. It is actually a rich brown/rust color like on the reverse. The colors will vary depending on your screen settings and the lighting in the photos. No matter the lighting this is a stunning blanket.Free shipping in the U.S.
