DESCRIPTION
This Listing is for a unique Stone that has the Image of the Virgin Mary cradling Baby Jesus with a Woman kneeling before them on one side. Another surprising thing about this Stone is that on the other side of the Stone you can see the Virgin Mary staring up into the Heavens with Jesus sitting on her lap. I bought this Stone at a local Estate sale. I've looked carefully at the Stone and it looks like the Faces and Hands on Mary, Jesus and the Woman might have been accented with a flesh colored paint. The Stone itself, is Smooth to the touch and is Silhouetted with a Black roughly textured Powdered Sand ? or Stone ?. When you rub your hands over the Black part it feels like Sandpaper. The Stone is mounted on what looks like a rough piece of Marble to me. If you check photo # 8 you can see where the Artist signed and dated his work. I can't really make out the Artist's Signature, but the Date looks like 84 to me. For the Record, I am not claiming the Stone has any " Miraculous Powers ". I will compare my selling this Stone to anyone selling a Painting or Statue of Jesus. I bought the Stone and am selling the stone as nothing other than a lovely piece of Art and Decorative Sculpture that would make a nice addition to the collection of a Collector of Religious items. The Stone on the Marble Base measures about 10 inches tall. The Stone alone measures about 7 inches tall, is about 6 inches across ( widest point, left to right ) and is about 2 & 1/2 inches thick ( widest point from front to back ). The Base alone measures about 4 & 1/2 inches tall, is about 12 inches across ( widest point, left to right ) and is about 7 inches thick ( widest point from front to back ). The Stone on the Marble Base is heavy and weighs about 20 pounds before being packed. The Stone on the Marble Base is in good condition, as seen in my photos.
