Vintage Signed and Numbered Le Corbusier LC4 Chaise by Cassina
An authentic early edition of one of the most classic, timeless and desirable designs from the midcentury: Le Corbusier's LC4 Chaise, with engraved Le Corbusier signature and engraved number #5499; this gorgeous chaise also has the original labels for Cassina and Altelier International as well as the exquisite original Pony Hair covering, which is incredibly close to mint condition for the age, with little to no visible wear. A multi-colored original covering is near impossible to find in this condition and with such a gorgeous natural patterning. It's a truly special example of this iconic chaise.
All the supporting straps are in original excellent condition, as are the original no-skid footholds.The original black leather pillow, still held in place by the original straps, is scuffed and shows wear--and can be restored or replaced. A few parts of the chrome plating which is in otherwise very good condition have light scratches. The two straps holding the base of the covering are gone, but the other original straps are in tact.

In 2010, Cassina started engraving all three signatures of the LC4's co-designers (Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand) on the back of the chrome plated frame--but early editions like the one pictured will only bear the name of Le Corbusier and an identification number. And the earliest editions of Cassina's LC4 will bear only an identification number and are absent Le Corbusier's signature.
