Popular publicationsstarted publishing the title Battle Birds with the December 1932 issue. After19 issues the title changed to Dusty Ayres and His Battle Birds for twelveissues. Once this was done and after a gap of about four and a half yearsBattle Birds started back up again with a new #1 issue in 1940. The second runlasted 26 issues. One of the interesting concepts with the short twelve issuerun is that the covers segued from aviation to that of science fiction forseveral of its issues. The classic cover of a rocket ship crashing throughskyscrapers is the Dec 1934 issue.
