From our antique collection delighted to offer this beautifully elegant rosewood Biedermeier Grande Sonnerie Anton Pfefferlc.1845-48 wall clock for sale

These clocks are becoming more valuable due to their uniqueness, especially the ones have been marked and signed by the maker.

There was no mass production at Biedermeier times, every piece made is unique to the master, such movement took around a year to produce according to various sources, reflects the true craftmanship of their time.

THE MOVEMENT

Received a fully comprehensive service, cleaned and set by our horologist recently (June 2026)

Great quality 8 days duration Grande Sonnerie triple train movement of the highest quality striking on two steel curled gongs, with deadbeat escapement, strike silent facility (practical for night).

While the antique market is slowing down and getting harder to find a decent piece, month duration pieces represent a very rare and unique league indeed.

THE CASE

Beautiful and elegant early example of Biedermeier times, palisander veneer with painting like drawings, gorgeous original ornaments, look fabulous and in great harmony with the case.

It’s in her original condition, has not been refurbished, few minor hairline cracks can be seen, see photos, but barely noticeable and not in the need for refurb as she was well looked after.

The thin back plate intarsia suggest great quality work indeed.

Comes with her glass panes too.

THE DIAL

The dial is in good condition, the two piece enamelled dial with Roman numerals and finely crust pie bezel, signed to the centre Anton Pfefferl in Wien.

The finely fretted "blued" steel hands look stunning.

The double-sided polished brass pendulum bowl with wooden rod and the 3 Biedermeier weights are in great condition too.
