It's offered to your attention the high-detailed copy of the rocket "Soyuz" used on the Soviet-British space mission in 1991. That's the remarkable example of model production by the Soviet space enterprises made in Moscow at the Tushino Machine-Building Plant "Salyut" - the manufacturer of the space shuttle "Buran".

About the rocket. The "Soyuz" rocket replaced the "Vostok" and "Voskhod" rockets from the 1960s onwards, and is still used to launch manned spacecraft missions today. This model is a copy of the rocket that successfully launched the international crew of Soyuz TM-12 into space -- Soviet cosmonauts Sergey Krikalev and Anatoly Artsebarsky, along with the English woman-astronaut Helen Sharman. Therefore, in addition to the Flag of the USSR, the Flag of Great Britain is also featured on the rocket.

Design features. The model has a total height of about 107" (2.71 m) with its display stand and is in the scale of 1:20. Construction materials used in the creation of the model include dense thin cardboard, wood, metal and plastic. The level of detailed elaboration allows the viewer to see the smallest parts and technological inscriptions. The model consists of two parts, separately packed in boxes made of plywood. The parts of the model are easily joined together during assembly. There are no moving or removable parts on the model.

Provenance. This model was made in the early 1990s at the Tushino Machine-Building Plant "Salyut" and was used for display at various space exhibitions. In 2015, the factory decayed and ceased its activities. For an extended period, the model was stored at the plant in an unheated room and subsequently suffered corrosive damage to some elements. In 2016, it has been aquired from the retired engineer of the plant "Salyut", cleaned and professionally restored.

Scale - 1:20.

Height - 107" (2.71 m) with the stand.

Material - dense thin cardboard, wood and metal, other materials.

CONDITION. The model is in very good condition. As a result of the improper storage the model endured, the paint coating retains signs of a whitish residue. A cosmetic restoration of the paint coating may require refinishing.
