perfect, with no damage or repairs. The hook with loop/ring appears to be a later addition. 12.25 inches high, 14.25 inches wide, weighs 539 grams. Hallmarked for Vienna, Austria in the year 1855. Absolutely incredible, exquisite hand workmanship of chasing and repousse. Engraved Hebrew wording of the Passover Seder service. I have never seen anything like this piece, and cannot locate other examples in museums or past Judaica sales. The closest match I can locate in terms of era and workmanship is the silver tray seen in the last two photos from the Jewish Museum of New York. Like my tray, it is of oval shape, with crimped edges and beading just before, has figures that are chased and repouseed, and has Hebrew engraving. It dates to 1825, from Ukraine. I believe the piece of paper attached to the reverse side is from the sale house Dorotheum in Austria sometime during the 1980's.
