Original circa 1860's-1870's cdv sepia albumen photo of a young girl sitting at the very rare & highly unusual figural lion cast iron sewing machine. A very unusual & supremely rare photo of this amazingly rare & wonderful object! The sewing machine is extremely rare & the photo probably even more so!The matt measures 4 inches long by 2 15/32 inches wide. The bottom edge of the matt has a scuff & a delicate pushed in & a bit torn area in the paper 1/4" by 3/16". The matt & photo have soiling & some toning from age.
There are minor flaws including one tiny speck pushed in on the background. Still, even with the flaws, an amazingly rare & wonderful photo of this even more amazing object!The front bottom of the matt has the wording "The "Lion" Sewing Machine (Registered)". The back has the wording "The Most Beautiful And Noble of all Domestic Sewing Machines is the "Lion," specially adapted for all family sewing.
