This is the actual United States government issued lunchbox provided by Colonel Troutman to John Rambo to use on his combat missions in Viet Nam. It shows front line, actual combat use, in that long and terrible war, where some 69,000 American military service personnel lost their lives, with countless others wounded and maimed. The patina of the piece includes dents from Vietcong percussion grenades and mortars, rust from being submerged in a bamboo cage in swampy and diseased waters of POW camps, smashes from the times our hero landed on it jumping from planes and choppers, scratches from trekking thru thick jungle foliage and dings from shrapnel from rocket fire and near miss AK47 rounds of regular NVA. There are no bullet holes in the lunchbox because it is bulletproof, made of tempered titanium and insulated with a double layer of military grade Kevlar. Inside, there are stains from John's K rations and some other leftover crud from his powdered meals. If you put the lunchbox to your ear, you can hear and feel the sounds and reverberations of exploding artillery shells, and the faint screams of their dismembered and dying victims. The thermos is not available because it is on display in the main entrance of the National Liberation Museum of the Republic of Viet Nam in Hanoi.
