Here is an unusual stereoview by Colorado photographer James Thurlow. #85. This image has Cameron’s Cone as it rises prominently above Colorado Springs, and can be seen from most of town. Standing just 7 miles due west of downtown, Cameron is about 5 miles in front of Pikes Peak. BUT, what makes this image different is there is a great view of a building believed to be Thurlow’s studio. The building has a large sign [ PHOTOGRAPHY ] above the building. The text is easing readable on the image, but my scanner with not show it clearly no matter how high I set the resolution. James Thomas Thurlow (1831-1878) came from Illinois and settled in Manitou, Colorado about 1874. He was known for his photography and is well known today for his stereoviews of Colorado scenery. Nice clean image with his paper tag under the left image and his printed text on the sides. Light soiling on the back. I find no copies of this image on the web.
