Offered is a James Thurlow stereoview depicting The Lake House on the Pikes Peak Trail in Colorado. In 1873 Edward Copley and E S Nettleton [Improved] the Bear Creek Trail along the route from Colorado City to Pikes Peak. (The Pikes Peak Trail) Copley took late near Lake Moraine and built “The Lake House”. He lived there for several years and the house was a stopping point on the way to Pikes Peak Summit. It also served as a telegraph office for the U S Signal Service. *James Thomas Thurlow (1831-1878) came from Illinois and settled in Manitou, Colorado about 1874. He was known for his photography and is well known today for his stereoviews of Colorado scenery. In 1875 his office was located in the Manitou Union Sunday School building. The images are sharp and clear. The mount has some edge wear.
