In the original condition.

I believe this is made of brass but I have not verified this but all publications point to brass.

Measurements: 11-5/8"in diameter

1/4" thick

Curvature to piece

Weight: 6 pounds 13 ounces

I was told this train went through Nevada, Arizona and California and also Oregon, via Southern Pacific Railroad, and was dismantled in California.

I found your description interesting, so I looked for Baldwin #17124 and found more:
The locomotive was Carson & Colorado RR 2nd #4. It was a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement, indeed built in 1899.
Was ex-Nevada-California-Oregon Railway #4 and was acquired from them in 1928 scrapped 1934.
And another note from another er:So, a bit of history. Baldwin Construction Number 17124 is believed to be a narrow gauge 3ft locomotive with 15x18” cylinders, 44” drivers, of a Wythe 4-6-0 wheel arrangement, constructed Oct 1899 for the Nevada California & Oregon as “Amedee” #5.
